Advantages of a Role-Play Party
A role-play involves creativity and imagination. Each guest plays an active role in the drama.
The concept and script outline can be used by adults as well as teenagers. Even a group including mixed generations can have fun with a mystery role-play.
When used for teenagers, this is one of the few parties where active participation by adult hosts is welcome.
No expensive food or drink is needed; just hors d’oeuvres or snacks and soft drinks. A simple meal or birthday cake can be served after the mystery is solved.
There is no concern that anyone will feel left out.
There are no worries about what to wear.
There is certainly no dread of boredom.
How it Works
By using this script and materials, your party will be easy to prepare. You are provided with Character Profiles, Confessions, clues and four alternate endings. Most of the additional items you need can be found around the house.
Of course you will have to do some work. Our instruction manual is organized like a workbook to lead you step-by-step through your preparation for this exciting party.
The script is written for up to twenty characters; but you can get by with as few as eight. Although the script is for ten actors and ten actresses, all of the characters can be played by either a male or female. Alternate first names or gender neutral names are provided for characters to accommodate this. To help you prepare for less than twenty guests, we have listed the eight required characters first. After the first eight, you can select additional characters for the drama in any way you wish.
Confidential instructions are distributed to each guest in advance. Minimum preparation involves reading a Character Profile and takes as little as fifteen minutes. Many guests elect to come in costume.
Guests arrive excited and ready for action. From the moment they walk in the door they are “in character.”
Guests immediately begin talking to one another, sharing information that might be critical to solving the mystery. Those that are a bit shy by nature, seem to leave their timidity at home. While playing a role, they become more outgoing.
